The black boards
At the start of worldwar one was a daily read newspaper a rarity amongst the femo-people.
That gave the teacher Lindhardt, who subscribed the newspaper *Politiken’, and the grocer Henrichsen, who subscribed a local paper, the good idea of placing a blackboard on the outer wall of the grocery at Nørreby with selected news from “Ritzaus news from the war”.
Every morning was Lindhardt keeping the news from the front updated; he had also drawn maps of the eastern and the western front, enabling all to follow the movements on the battlefields of europe
Later on the idea was copied of other tradesmen on the island, and today we got four blackboards keeping the tradition of communicating lokal news to the “femoians”!
